The more that I read about Victoria Independent School District the more that I am glad that there is a place like blogspot, where people can express their concerns about the fiasco from the administration on Profit Drive. I am putting this blog here so people can write what they feel like, because all the delete button pushers are all over on The Victoria Advocate staff.
First of all, there are people in charge who really don't care about the children and the people who teach them. It's all a matter of what looks good. Too bad if the children with learning difficulties are shoved aside and basically told to catch up with their peers. Wouldn't that be great, if all it took was putting a slow learner in a resource class and poof intelligence was increased? Until that becomes a reality, we need to provide the students and their teachers all the possible help they need to become the very best student possible and not just some fantasy.
Fun Ferret Fact: Ferrets are not related to rats and mice. Ferrets' closest cousins are weasels, minks, otters, badgers and skunks.
I hear what you are saying Ferret, but that is just a small part of it.
ReplyDelete1. The TEA rating for VISD has gone down since Bob "The Builder" Moore has led this district.
2. Moore should remember that he answers to the School Board, not the other way around.
3. As a teacher or an administrator, the only way to advance up the ladder is to royally screw up.
4. VISD is top heavy in administration.
5. Teachers are not supported by their administrators.
6. Bob Moore is sneaky and glib.
Speaking of special services, Richard "The Screamer" LaFavers believes that it is the teacher's fault if a low IQ student doesn't perform at the same level as a student with a higher IQ. He believes that in less than one school year, ANY student can be brought up to par with the rest of the grade level.
VISD is so screwed up.
Don't you just love how everyone fell all over themselves when Moore suggested that we needed two schools after everyone was so sure we needed to consolidate. I think the folks in charge should step aside and let those of us who THINK we know how to run things give it a try. Could we screw it up any worse? I doubt it.
And don't get me started on Mickey Finley! He should be retired! Could win if his life depended on it, but get preferential treatment when it comes to picking his destination. Wonder what's he got on Moore?

ReplyDeleteWow, over on the paper's website, there are pictures and descriptions of the new schools and the same cheerleaders there. They are so blinded by the new shiny stuff that they miss the big picture.
ReplyDeleteYeah, you are talking about tstorm. He wants his kid to be the star of th4 football team so bad, he has probably told Finley that he is tstorm on the forum, and to read. Talk about a suck up!
ReplyDeleteI watched the video, and I realize that there is no paint on the walls, but at this point I have to agree with onestar, a scary thought. It does loook like a penitentiary. Well, except for the 'common area'. It looks like a dungeon.
According to the diagram, there are only forty classrooms that hold about twenty students each. That's only 800 students, right? I know that some would be in electives, but really it seems that the academic aspect of the school hasn't been well thought through. Since each grade level has it's own floor, that would be ten classrooms per grade level. Maybe I looked at the diagram wrong, but I am going with what it says.
ReplyDeleteThat three story library seems like it will be very difficult to cool in South Texas. I did notice that there are two gyms, so looks like the athletic department is covered, though.
I do like the fact that the science rooms have a storage room for each two rooms, but when you look at the diagram, once you take out the science rooms on each floor, not many rooms left for the other classe. What did you guys see?
Just my thoughts.
You would think with the relatives that Tstorm has he would be more realistic in his "appreciation" of all that is VISD. His wife must not tell him all that her employer has done to her throughout the years or either he doesn't give a rat's furry behind about her.
