TEFLON: EVENTUALLY THE TOXIC FUMES ARE DETECTED

When I learned today that VISD had finally reached the conclusion that their TEFLON person in the district had to be put on Administrative Leave, I was so pleased that finally the superintendent had realized how truly toxic the whole situation was.  I do feel badly for the students and parents who work so hard and enjoy the drill team experience and blindly believed everything was above board.

Whenever a parent devotes money, time and energy to keep their child involved in an extra-curricular activity, they shouldn't have to worry whether the person in charge is putting the children's well-being above her need for recognition.  Competitions were very expensive and yet the competitions were not true indicators of talent, since the team was the only one to compete in their category.

Fund raisers might not be a problem for students who came from families with connections at work, church and social organizations who could buy raffle tickets, sponsorships, etc. But  for the families who struggle to met their household obligations, buying/selling the merchandise was a major financial strain.  Didn't matter who you were, the fundraising was expected.  Didn't want your child to have to work at the TKB event, because beer was sold and consumed, then too bad for you. How does this say that the director cared about the students?

If a family couldn't afford all the financial obligations, then they should just pull their child from the team?  Soon we would be left with the elite and maybe that was the plan all along.  Oh, now I understand the name of LEGACY...rich, elite and above the rules.

Sounds like it's time to regroup and rename the team.  The "DDDR" is the Legacy?  Really, then I guess it stands for "Did Debbie Do Right?"  And the obvious answer would be a big, fat, dingle-berry, "NO!"

  1. Like I posted on EA...

    I'd bet it will get zapped on the VA blog...

    Well, after watching the story on KAVU, with the drill team mom saying "We give our girls to DJ, she has nothing to do with the booster club, it's not her fault."

    I can draw two related conclusions....

    1. All of the money from fundraisers, TBK in particular, was looked at by Mrs. Jaynes as Manna from Heaven, it just fell in her lap to do with as she, and the parents pleased.

    2. Mrs. Jaynes tried to insulate herself from the booster club by not attending the meetings, but yet reaped the rewards of the booster clubs efforts.

    That durn money that just falls out of the sky, how great is that?

    But we are suppose to believe DJ knew nothing of where all the funds came from? Good grief, one of her relatives supplies the livestock for TKB, how could she not know?

    How would you ever know if it got zapped--there are NINE separate articles, stories and blogs on the Advocate about this right now.

MOORE,THE SCHOOL BOARD,AND THE BRAVE LADIES WHICH FINALLY BROUGHT THE PROOF TO LIGHT WHICH OBVIOUSLY MADE DJ HANG HERSELF--THEY WOULD NOT HAVE RE-ASSIGNED HER IF THERE HAD BEEN NO BLACK AND WHITE PROOF!! 4. DJ IS JUST TEACHING AND SHOWING HER DRILL TEAM "IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE RULES--YOU DON'T HAVE TO FOLLOW THEM"---AT LEAST UNTIL YOU GET CAUGHT RED-HANDED!! LEARN SOMETHING FROM THIS FIASCO GIRLS--RULES ARE NOT JUST FOR SOME--THEY ARE FOR EVERYONE--JUST ASK YOUR FORMER DIRECTOR--IT FINALLY CAUGHT UP WITH HER AND NOW SHE HAS TO SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES--NO MATTER HOW MUCH CRYING AND HOLLERING IS DONE AT THE SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS.

  5. Very vocal anonymous poster--

    I completely agree.

    I have never been a Victoriadore--Refugio didn't need them;

    I didn't give birth to a Victoriadore--my boys went to Stroman;

    I have only known two Victoriadores--they went to my church.

    I don't really have a dog in this fight.

    What I do have is a complete disdain and digust for (1) folks who WILL NOT follow the rules and (2) folks who will not enforce the rules that are in place.

    I agree with a friend who is suggesting that D J will be announcing her retirement. That would probably be the best move she could make.

    This is just another thing in a long string of embarrassing events in the life of Victoria and her citizens.

  6. It sure is quiet about this dusty-making item. Wonder how much money all those bulls made for the kickers?

  7. DJ will not retire. She has stated she wants to take down the families that got her removed from the team. Ironically, it is her actions that got her placed on leave, nothing else.
