Last year around this time, Mz. Understood (pictured here) was banned from posting on the local newspaper's website. I had forgotten about the demise of this stylish, intelligent poster, until Chris Cobler reminded me of this today.
He must have had a slow day in the newsroom, because he stumbled upon this blog and it made him uncomfortable. Nothing in this blog was untrue, sources were quoted, and nothing was taken out of context.

Subject: request
Hello,
I would like to request that you remove your blog post attacking me in relation to Aprill Brandon's column. Perhaps I'm too sensitive to such attacks, but I'm trying to focus on what's happening here in my new home rather than in the past. I appreciate your consideration and hope you're having a good weekend.
Chris
This is the same Chris that wields a mean zapper when comments are not to his liking and posters are banned so quickly that it could make one dizzy. So, let me be clear, I have corrected mistakes when I have written blogs and I have found I was reporting rumors and not facts, but when I have researched and written the facts, such as the February blog about Mz. Understood, then my words stay.
Blogspot has been my writing home for over a year and this is the first request that I remove any blogs. Interesting?!
I have a dear friend who is fond of an expression concerning kicking a dog on a porch and being bitten. Be careful, this ole dog has been kicked one too many times by the people who work at the local newspaper and yes, my words do bite.
Yeah, I've heard that if you poke a dog often enough, he will bite.
ReplyDeleteWith all of the venom that he has spewed, he wants to get his dander up over some reference in a blog? Cobler should donate his free time to a psychological research facility. The case study on him could fill volumes.
ReplyDeleteKeep telling the truth, no matter what. The more it ticks off Herr Editor, the more I would do it.
What's even funnier is that he wants to hide his past and then he googles himself and finds a year old blog. He keeps bringing up the facts and yet he wants me to delete my blog...unbelievable.
ReplyDeleteFerret,
ReplyDeleteCan you post the link to your blog Cobler is referring to?
Thanks
Ferret,
ReplyDeleteFound it!!

WOW, if this isn't proof of a double standard that the VA practices, I don't know what is.
Let's see, it's alright for the VA to dig up Matt Ocker's (whom I don't know or never met) past, interview his former in-laws but God forbid anyone does the same with Chris Cobler's journalism ethics (or lack of them)/employment past.
This is the reason the VA has lost so many readers/posters/ect.. and respect from the community. Everything is censored to support the VA's views and why local blogs/bloggers are gain such momentum and a following. The VA/Editor/Chief Delete Nazi is their own worst enemy!
Karma is a b!tch, isn't it Mr. Cobler!
Thanks for sharing Ferret!!
Yup, this all pretty much sums up the Chris I remember from back in the day. Same lack of ethics, same bullying tactics, same hypocrisy.
ReplyDeleteSo, he is frustrated he cannot scrub the internet of all mentions of his unethical behavior? It almost inspires me to create my own blog so that I can post it, ensuring even more Google search hits.
Thank you for keeping this info out there. I read about it when it happened, and something random happened today that made me want to see if it was still out there. Thank you, Truth Ferret.
Why any newspaper would hire him after the scandal was exposed is beyond my comprehension.
Back to state one of my favorite moments while reading this was seeing:

Brilliant.
